Leandra Medine aka Man Repeller aka huge inspiration for fashion weirdos around the globe (like myself – hi from London Town!) is expanding her brand and shows us how it’s done. She launched her blog after studying journalism at uni, which is now a full-on business with about 10 (or more) employees, she has also written a book (it’s a hilarious must read if you haven’t already and very relatable – Man Repeller: Seeking Love. Finding Overalls), collaborated with every brand under the sun and even launched hats with the Man Repeller logo on (which are sadly sold out!). And now has showed us the epitome of ‘being a brand’ and an entrepreneur – her very own shoe line, MR by Man Repeller sold exclusively at – where else – Net-a-Porter.
Anyone who is even a little bit familiar with Medine’s style and work will know that this is by no means a typical “blogger” line or one of those weird collaborations. I still love the collab she did with Superga a couple of years ago (they collaborated twice actually). But this is 100% her and you can tell from the first instance. Metallics! Platforms! Paisley! Velvet! It’s everything you could wish for and more.
And of course Leandra being the weirdo we know and love, named her shoes in unexpected ways. I love the khaki velvet sandals “Lol if You Think I’m Walking” and “I’m here to Party” pink boots with a subtle paisley embossing. I have to say I would generally wear all of these, but I do understand they might be a bit out there or OTT for some people. But then again that’s what fashion’s all about! You take risks and dress and accessorise as you please and it doesn’t matter if anyone else is on board. So have fun with it all!
