showstudio office

Last week at SHOWstudio we had a very special event; the film screening of celebrated British filmmaker, Ruth Hogben‘s new fashion film in collaboration with Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio.

The core of the ‘Ugly’ series over at SHOWstudio is this film called ‘Beyond The Glass’ styled by Robbie Spencer, fashion Director of Dazed & Confused starring model Saskia de Brauw. The film featured fashion from Meadham Kirchhoff, Maison Martin Margiela, Prada, Alexander McQueen, J.W. Anderson and others.

The screening was centered around horror music, and artwork from artists such as Tim A Shaw, Amanda Harlech, Rose Robson and others. All celebrating ‘Ugly’.

Look more into the series with several essays, articles and interviews expressing how beautiful intentional ‘ugliness’ can be.

And as the great Miuccia Prada said: “Ugly is attractive, ugly is exciting. Maybe because it is newer. The investigation of ugliness is, to me, more interesting than the bourgeois idea of beauty. And why? Because ugly is human.”
