Lacoste regeneration

The first collection for Lacoste under Felipe Oliveira Baptista didn’t fail to amaze. Shown in NY on September, the luxury sports brand is re-born cooler while retaining its old school vibe.

What he wanted to show in this collection was “freedom, well-being, joy, innovation, clean lines, graphic use of colour, and, of course, polos,” said the designer in a q&a in Nylon magazine.

Silky fabrics, colours popping out all over the place and of course the reinvention of the classic polo dress, only made shorter and work/party appropriate.

What I really liked from the collection and I would totally covet was the Cathy bag (shown below). Baptista said he got inspiration for the bag from an old golf bag Catherine Lacoste had when she won the U.S. Open in 1967.

This lustworthy bag will be available in stores this spring.

Also don’t forget to check out the winter collection shown last week, full of leather jackets, and colours popping out of black ensembles.

Baptista is definitely one to watch.
