My Symprove probiotics review after 12+ weeks
What are Probiotics?

Probiotics are ‘good’ bacteria that help the food break down and travel down our gut. Essential for the digestive system, you need some extra help if you have digestion issues. Anything from Irritable Bower Syndrome, bloating and more.
Personally I’ve found probiotics to help overall, after all overall health is linked to gut health and as someone with PCOS and general bloating issues, finding a probiotic that works super well every time is important.
I usually get some tablets that I got from the pharmacy back in Greece but they are harder to get here, so when I saw more and more people talk about how incredibly well Symprove works for them and wanted to give it a go. To be honest, I was contemplating on getting these for a while considering they are more expensive than your average probiotic, so only got the 4-week kit at first.
How does Symprove work?
You get one bottle per week and have a shot (7ml) every morning on empty stomach, wait 10 minutes before eating or drinking and then you’re good to go. They recommend the 12-week programme so that you can really see the effects and it regulates your gut.
What sets it apart from other is that bacteria is live not ‘frozen’ to be included in a pill form. This diminishes their effect. Symprove has a water-based formula;
"More live and active bacteria surviving passage through the stomach means a better opportunity to colonise the gut. This ability to deliver thriving bacteria is what makes Symprove so special."
It comes in mango & passion fruit and original, I’ve only tried the mango & passion fruit and it actually tastes nice! A bit tangy, like Greek yogurt. I haven’t tried the original but I feel I won’t like it!
So – does it actually work?
In one word YES. Honestly I didn’t think it would work so well. It’s solved my bloating issues, has helped my gut health DAILY and I can really tell whether I’ve forgotten to take it that day.
As someone who has issues with my digestion, this has helped so so much but I truly believe this would help anyone. A bit TMI but well, this has helped me ‘go’ every day, which believe me it’s a huge deal!

Pros:
-This works incredibly well.
-It’s one size fits all and you can’t do it wrong! Whereas tablets come in various billion strains of bacteria and you might not know what’s suitable, with this you won’t have to guess
-It is dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly
Cons:
-It’s on the pricey side and right now I’m unable to replace them, but having seen the positive effect they have for me, I’ll certainly repurchase in future.
-Not particularly travel-friendly, so I keep some table probiotics to take while on holidays/travelling and when a fridge isn’t an option
-It’s a lot of plastic, but understand that for freshness and ease, these have to be separated in weekly batches
-Each 4-pack expires after four months, so if you don’t take this daily you might end up with some waste. I, unfortunately, experienced this as I was away over Christmas and couldn’t travel with them!
Behind Symprove
The company is from the UK, founded and based in Surrey. The products are dairy free, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly.
The product is created using barley, the gluten is extracted and the company does extra tests to ensure the product is gluten-free.
The 4-week kit is £79, but if you get enough for 8-weeks (2 boxes), you receive one month free. You can also subscribe and get it delivered at your chosen time so you don’t have to order constantly which is great!
Kings College and University College London have conducted a trial and Symprove has won against 7 other popular probiotic brands. I really really appreciate brands created using science and creating their product with real evidence.
Also, though this has nothing to do with the product, their customer service is absolutely fantastic, both via email and phone. I had the wrong address and they quickly fixed it and have overall been great. This to me, makes the product even better.
This doesn’t constitute a replacement to a healthy diet, I am not a health professional nor licensed to give any advice, just sharing my personal experience!
