To coincide with London Collections: Men, “Mad About The boy” is an exhibition by SHOWstudio editor Lou Stoppard at the Fashion Space Gallery of London College of Fashion.
It explores fashion’s obsession with the teenage boy and features creations by the likes of Meadham Kirchhoff, Nasir Mazhar, Raf Simons, J.W. Anderson, Christopher Shannon, Nick Knight and others. The exhibition features different sections to explore the relationship with teenage boys starting from a recreation of the SS13 presentation by Meadham Kirchhoff.
Menswear and youth culture have been interconnected as designers have showed us; Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent, Raf Simons and Gosha Rubchinskiy have all been focusing on youth culture – and are quite successful doing so.

This exhibition unpicks the different ideas and notions of boys that are featured in fashion as different characters; from the sexual fantasist to the anarchic rebel. Featuring audio recordings, films, garments and photography by various designers and image-makers such as Larry Clark, Raf Simons and Nick Knight. The design for the exhibition was done by Tony Hornecker, who brought to life all the different themes.
Menswear has been having a moment lately; and this exhibition proves its importance.
