LED face mask review – is it worth it?

Would you use an LED mask? If you love your beauty gadgets, chances are you already have and use a mask like this one! They are usually around the £300 mark but are they worth it?

I love LED! It has helped me massively with spots when using the FOREO Espada (review) topically and I’ve wanted to try a full face one for ages. I ended up getting the one on Look Fantastic as I had some credit to spend. They often discount it, so keep an eye out!

It’s the Rio faceLITE LED Mask £349.99 – from @lookfantastic (you can get 20% discount with the code LFTFFANI). LED masks are FDA-approved in minimising wrinkles.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started using it on the 7th of Feb. Needs to be used 3 to 5 times a week for four weeks. I was using it for 4-5 times most weeks at the time of writing this review on 17th March.

What does LED do?

LED is amazing for skin rejuvenation, hyperpigmentation, acne, lines, texture, wrinkles and stimulating collagen. If you’re on certain medication (like Accutane) you might not be able to use this so FYI. Nor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding!

The wavelength for this specific mask is: 633nm (red light) and 830nm (near infra-red light).

Fit & Battery

I knew that people have had issues with the fit of this mask so ordered Velcro straps (see here). It didn’t fit too tight around my chin area, so added an extra strap on the top, to hold it in place better. That worked a lot better! This is a tip from @goalstogetglowing and @fionas50slife. It’s generally comfortable to wear, you can do other things but you don’t see very well while it’s on due to the bright red light.

This has a 10 min timer, so shuts off automatically at the end of your treatment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The battery power is amazing – it lasted for around 3 weeks and I was using it 5 times per week. Re-charges via USB.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s flexible and comes with a little pouch to carry it around so easy to travel with.

Results of the LED mask

My skin was generally happy and balanced. I think with a device like this, the bigger change is when your skin remains happy!! Any spots healed faster (in combination with the REN and Inkey List spot treatments). Found it calming to wear also!

Presumably, if you have fine lines and wrinkles you will see a difference in those as well. Can’t comment on that, though I believe my eye area was smoother after using this.

Now my issue is, after properly testing it for over a month, that since then I’ve not been that consistent with it! Which is why it’s a personal choice whether you’d purchase or not to make it worth the investment.
