How to wear tie-dye feat Charlotte Simone x Changing Faces

Behind Charlotte Simone’s new collection plus 3 ways to wear tie-dye

Here I thought I would never wear a tie-dye item of clothing but Charlotte Simone came to change my mind with her latest collection!

Charlotte Simone is known for her fun and colourful designs, which is what I’ve always loved about her brand. I first found out about her when she came out a super smart and cute scarf/hoodie hybrid and have followed her work ever since. Not to mention she’s also a really nice person!

I still wear my super fun fluffy Sass ear cap in the winter and have had my eye on a few of her bags, and the latest collection for SS19 is even more amazing. I wanted to write about the inspiration and also put together some ways to wear tie-dye you can easily achieve with items you already own!

Behind the collection

Charlotte’s former intern Katie Gee was the inspiration and muse behind the collection of tie-dye t-shirts that bridge the 90s nostalgia with modernity in the best possible way. Katie was the victim of an acid attack in Zanzibar and as an innately positive person, she wanted to turn the story around and create something positive out of the situation. This Charlotte Simone capsule collection was created together with a charity Katie has worked with, and offers 20% of the profits to the Changing Faces charity; that works to support and bring positivity to anyone with a scar, mark or condition on face or body.

The five soft cotton t-shirts are of course super fun on their own with the bright pink, yellows, and purples but the embroidered messages are my favourite detail about them – LIMITLESS, DOUBT, OPTIMISM, and LOVE IS ALL. The cotton bucket hats are just as great! By the way the tie-dye is done by hand for all the t-shirts and hats in the collection.

THREE WAYS TO WEAR TIE-DYE

1.THE CLASSIC – Denim

Nothing can beat a good proper 90’s look right? I found my 501’s at a vintage store and to be honest that’s the best way to get a nice pair of Levi’s for me. Paired with the tie-dye print, you get an instant happy and easy to wear look. If the weather allows it, I’d wear it with the cut-off version of my 501’s, which I’ve actually cut myself (yay for #DIY), and Vans. 90’s kid through and through!

2. THE TREND – Slip skirt

Slip skirts have been huge this season thanks to the now cult leopard print version by Réalisation Par. Slip skirts and dresses are so easy to wear from day to night, so this was an obvious choice for me when thinking of ways to pair the tie-dye t-shirts. The tee is a bit more casual, the skirt is a bit more feminine, creating the perfect balance in this look.

If you don’t own a slip skirt but own a slip dress, simply wear the tee over the dress or even under it!

3. THE QUIRKY – Tailored but not quite

Me being me I couldn’t resist pairing the fun t-shirt with even more colours. I’d wear this on a night out as the sequins make the tee more dressed-up. If you like the look but it’s too colourful for you, it would easily work with black or white trousers. I love how relaxed these wide-legged trousers are, while being somewhat tailored.

PS: How perfect are these tees for Pride?
