Get your SILKE on

Who doesn’t want to have long, luscious and healthy hair?

As a child I was obsessed with having long hair, never wanting to cut it more than 1 inch, or going to the hairdresser’s once a year. And let me tell you, this doesn’t mean I had the hair I wanted. Long, yes, but not necessarily healthy. Moving to London I decided I was ready for a change, and had a bob for about 3 years. For the past year, I have been trying to find my favourite products to help my hair grow long and healthy. It’s worth mentioning I now cut my hair about every 8 weeks. It’s not a myth, it does actually work! I have also used Olaplex, the intensive 3-step nourishing system, do a mask once a week, use heat protectant, avoid using heat more than a couple of times a week and use oil at the ends. I do have highlights, so some parts of my hair have been bleached, which for sure doesn’t help the condition. Wanting to protect my hair even more I was curious to try a new product from London brand SILKE.

Launching less than a year ago, SILKE London is one of those brands that are guaranteed to become cult products. It might sound far-fetched to claim that a product can work overnight immediately, and I have to say I was slightly sceptical in the beginning and the first night I put it on I wasn’t expecting miracles. Even though I do take good care of my hair, I am prone to frizz and dullness. So I was pleasantly surprised the next morning when my dull-ish hair was softer and shinier in just 8 hours. Oh and helps keep your hairstyle for longer and has also helped with my super annoying, frizzy baby hairs!

It’s inspired by the traditional hair wrapping methods of the Caribbean; it smooths hair, aids growth and eliminates frizz and split ends when worn nightly. The brand was founded in 2016 by Maria Sotiriou who got inspired by her Mediterranean and Caribbean descent and over 30 years of experience as a hair stylist to create this one-of-a-kind product. It is suitable for all women and all hair types. The wraps are made in London using the finest materials, and they are both comfortable and super chic. I will definitely wear it as a hair turban in the summer. For now, I don’t mind looking like a crazy (but fashionable) person sleeping in a silk hair wrap and eye mask. Oh and they have also launched hair ties, which I will definitely try!

The SILKE hair wraps retail for £45, on their website and on Cult Beauty and for the Londoners in Not Another Salon and for New Yorkers in Bar Beauté

Trust me – you won’t be able to go to bed without your SILKE wrap on!
