The best makeup bag

Claiming to have found the best makeup bag might seem like an exaggeration, but hear me out first… I think I have found the best bag for your daily needs that fits perfectly in your day bag and has all the basic makeup. Now, if you tend to carry a bit too much makeup on an everyday basis this isn’t for you, otherwise read on!

It’s by brand Truffle and I stumbled upon it while looking for a transparent plastic makeup back on the place that has all the answers – Google obvs. Now, truffle isn’t only one of my favourite things to eat, but also somewhere to put my makeup in!

Truffle Clarity Clutch small

A plastic pouch with a leather trim available in so many different colours, there’s is one for everyone! They also have a smaller and bigger size, depending on your needs, as well as a non-transparent version, aptly named Privacy. I was in between the grey and orange and thought of playing it safe, but, to be honest, knowing me I’m probably going to buy another one soon! The fact that it is transparent comes in handy. If you ever had to rummage through your makeup bag to find a lipstick you’ll know what I mean. The leather makes it look super-slick.

I’ll go through the contents of my Truffle pouch for you, this is usually what I have with me on a day-to-day basis.

Face and Eyes: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette; really good contour and a beautiful gold shimmer for highlighting, it’s expensive but worth it and the palette itself is such a thing of beauty.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Flat Contour; quite good and densely packed brush, goes well with the aforementioned palette.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer; I sweat by this concealer, it’s one of the best I’ve tried and works great in covering blemishes, plus it’s only about £4 – score.

Kiko eyeshadow stick in 05; very useful especially when you’te on the go and need a quick touch of makeup.

L’Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim in Black; it’s the only one I’ve found to work so well for me and helps me draw the perfect flick every time, which I couldn’t do before discovering this.

Maybelline the Rocket mascara; I like this much more than high-end alternatives; volume, super-black colour and length all in one. And weirdly enough I prefer it when it has dried out a bit.

Lips: Lucas’ Papaw Ointment; I discovered this Australian product a few years ago and it helps chapped lips, open wounds, scratches, cracked skin. I use it everywhere, it’s like Windex! (My Big Fat Greek Wedding reference anyone?)

Mac lip pencil in Soar; Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk; these two combined create the fullest, but still natural lips.

Mac Lipsticks in Brick-O-la and Plumful; one’s a bit redder, the other a bit pinky, both great for everyday use.

Tanya Burr lipgloss in Picnic in The Park; I don’t actually use this everyday but always carry it with me. Lipgloss has an interesting ability to make you look more put together, even if you don’t feel like it. Bonus points to this pinky shade for not being sticky and smelling like strawberries.

Six products for the lips might seem a bit excessive but I do use them all surprisingly!

The Extras: Hand sanitiser from Bath and Body Works; an absolute essential when you live in London and take the tube.

Travalo, perfume atomiser; this is a great little invention might look a bit odd. It is the perfect thing though, as it helps you have your favourite perfume and carry it with you, without having big heavy bottles in your bag. My current favourite (it’s been my favourite for over a year now) is Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana.

This Works Deep Sleep Stress Less rollerball; smells like lavender and is quite calming, I carry it just in case I feel stressed and need to relax.
