Meadham Kirchhoff AW14

Magical, pretty, sparkly and pastel are a few words that can characterise Meadham Kirchhoff‘s collection for AW14/15. image

The scent of the season sprayed around the Topshop Showspace is the upcoming collaboration between Meadham Kirchhoff and British perfume house Penhaligon’s. The surreal perfume, Tralala, is a powdery sweet smell, that instantly transferred us to the world of the designer duo. “We wanted the perfume to be heavy and old fashioned and we wanted it to smell glamorous. Edward came up with the name Tralala one day and it stuck – we loved it because it’s nonsensical,” they said.

Starting off with shorts skirts and tailored jackets, midi skirts and flowy dresses the show only got dreamier after that. The jackets shown appeared to be a nod to the iconic Chanel bouclé jacket and tweed suit with a modern twist and were shown in pastels and full embroideries.

imageSparkling long embroidered dresses are presented to us as new age wedding gowns. The ‘brides’ had their faces covered with beautiful silk veils in pastel tones. Lizard-skin holographic skirts and jackets in silver/red and purple introduce us to the jungle.

To finish off, velvet and silk dresses with scalloped patterns combine multiple colours in the best way possible.

The accessories were also a highlight, clown decorated clutch bags and the designers’ signature chunky heeled shoes wrapped it all up.

It was by far the best show I attended at London Fashion Week this season and simply cannot wait for the next.

Sorry for the overload of photos, I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I did.
